Fill gaps in crypto tax records

The bot goes through your wallets and blockchain explorers to find missing cost basis and transfer records for your crypto taxes.

Starting prompt (adapted)

Go through my crypto exchange exports and the wallet addresses I give you, and use public blockchain explorers to match each transfer between my own wallets and find the missing cost basis for each holding. Put the results in a spreadsheet with dates, amounts, and the source for each figure, and mark which ones you inferred. Never ask for my seed phrases or private keys, and don't move any funds. I'll review it with my tax preparer.

Written for this site from what the cases below did. It is a starting point, not a prompt anyone posted. Fill in the parts in brackets.

What you still do

  • Give the bot read-only exports and addresses
  • Review the spreadsheet with your tax preparer

Where it tends to fail

  • Inferred cost basis can be wrong, and the tax return is still yours
  • Only a text claim so far
  • Tax rules for crypto differ by country

How well it's backed up

This saves time rather than money. So far this is a single text-only claim.

Text only: 1.
